It's about time...
Okay, okay, it is time for me to blog again.
Here goes:
The weather in the Northwest never ceases to amaze me. As I drove south today (like every day) I started out with the blue skies above and a slight wind in the air. About 30 minutes later, it was pouring so hard that my windshield wipers were on full-blast and it was all I could do to concentrate on the road, and not the wipers. Then another 30 minutes later, I was almost at work - no rain, no wind, no blue sky. Just white out, as far as I eye could see. Not cold, not warm. Not anything in particular. Just white out.
Luckily, my day was more exciting than the weather. Today my Senator's semi-conductor bill passed the Senate. Having already passed the House, it is now ready for the Governor to sign. While this may not be too exciting to you, it is extremely exciting to me. It means that the man who was calling two and three times a day to check up on the bill's status, is not going to pester me anymore. And what could be more exciting than that?! Oh, and the bill is really great because it encourages an innovative industry to create new products in SW Washington, which is the area of the state my Senator represents.
Also, I had the interesting opportunity to delve into the world of L&I when I answered the phone (as I always do) and was confronted by a frustrated constituent who didn't understand why things weren't the way they wanted them to be. Needless to say, L&I is not the monsters they are made out to be and there was a perfectly reasonable reason why the claim was denied -- the paperwork hadn't been filled out all the way! If I've said it once, I've said it a million times - when you are dealing with bureaucracy, you must learn to love forms. And I do. Pity the folks who don't understand why they are so important, but I get joy out of filling in each and every box. It's like a test where I know all the answers and at the end I am rewarded for reciting my top ten facts. Except, I don't always get a gold star or a lollipop. Though wouldn't life be grand if I did?
Well, I hope you've enjoyed my second post. I will try to take note of the more interesting parts of my life. And I promise, my next post will be in less than two months. :-)
