Knitting News

Today is an exciting day in my world of knitting... even though I have not yet knitted a single stitch today. How is that possible, you ask?

I finally finished the baby blanket I was making for my little nephew. The knitting part was done over a month ago, but then came the backing. Oh, such a sweet and simple idea, but alas, like many of my projects, the backing became a dreaded task. However, since my hubby is laboring this Labor Day, I thought what better way than to spend my labor day doing the same. (At least in that nice at-home crafting sort of way.) And in less than 2 hours I'd completed the backing and the blanket! Here it is all done:

Ain't it beautiful! Plus, I really like the "E" in the middle. In fact, we've started calling this blanket the Super "E" cape, since surely that's what it's going to be in no short time.

Oh and in case you wanted to check out that pesky backing, here's a little bit of it:

Today I also discovered that there is an awesome website where you can browse lots of great FREE knitting patterns. Ones that are really quite good (and modern, not too old or frumpy) for free, for real. They even have patterns for baby clothes. The patterns (and website) are by the folks at Garnstudio, a leading Scandinavian supplier of knitting yarns, designs, knitting needles, buttons and other accessories. Enjoy!

And happy knitting....
